Tara (Caesalpinia spinosa)
Tara is native to the Andes and has been used since pre-Hispanic times in folk or popular medicine. In Peru, it grows in forests and scrublands in arid and semi-arid areas of coastal hills and inter-Andean valleys. It is distributed along almost the entire coast, from Piura to Tacna, and in some mountainous departments.
