Origin of the “Sangre de Grado”

With the name of Dragon’s blood” or “blood of dragon tree”, it is popularly known the latex that comes from the bark of trees of the Genus Croton (C. lechleri), when making deep cuts in their outer cover or when they are grave (they are cut until they fall).

Blood of dragon contains an alkaloid called “taspine” that speeds up the healing of wounds, lacerations and abrasions. The resin also contains antitumor alkaloids such as pyridone, indole aporphine, quinoline, tropanes, unsaturated fatty acids, anthraquinones and triterpenes.

Among its most important effects we must highlight its activity as astringent, healing and hemostatic, which allows it to effectively treat different types of skin and mucosal wounds, even those that present difficulties with other treatments such as decubitus ulcers or varicose ulcers.

Traditional Use: Traditionally, the dragon’s blood is used to treat acne, psoriasis, hemorrhoids, and to heal open wounds and accelerate the healing of wounds that heal slowly. How to use: For external use, the resin is rubbed directly onto the affected area several times a day and allowed to dry.  Another use, dilute 3 drops of latex in a large glass of water. Take 30 minutes before meals 3 times a day.

Contraindications: Consumption is not recommended for pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding. Its consumption is not recommended in excessive.
